ROSGOSSTRAKH in Bashkortostan paid about RUB 64 mn for damaged machinery

ROSGOSSTRAKH's branch in Bashkortostan indemnified machinery loss to Bashkir Generating Company, ltd.

Following a breakdown of a unit in a flow channel of PT-60 steam turbine's high pressure cylinder one generating unit of Salavatskaya power plant was shut down. As a result of an accident the equipment was put out of service.

In order to evaluaate such a big and complex loss the insurer involved LABB and Energo Fichtner as independent experts. The investigation revealed a cause of the loss being the damage to the flow part of the turbine due to displacement of the high pressure rotor.

Process and technology equipment of the plant was insured under the enterprises' property insurance programm with "all risks" policy. Overall range of ROSGOSSTRAKH's liability exceeds RUB 80 milliard.

Since consideration and evaluation of the loss needed time, ROGOSSTRAKH decided to perform an interim payment amounted to RUB 40 mn. That helped the plant to avoid delays in placing an order for a new steam turine's rotor.

The experts evaluated the loss just under RUB 64 mn. Upon submission of a set of necessary documents the indemnity was paid to the insured in full.
